    Highline College offers a Human Resources (HR) Certificate Program specifically designed for current human resources professionals and those who want to transition into the human resources field. The program's purpose is to provide graduates with the knowledge and skills to contribute positively to the human resources function in their workplaces. The curriculum is influenced by the bodies of knowledge developed by the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) and the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). *

    The HR Certificate program consists of nine courses:

    • Introduction to Human Resource Management
    • Employment Laws, Regulations & Compliance
    • HR: Workforce Development
    • HR Management: Compensation
    • Employee Benefit Plans & Administration
    • Employee and Labor Relations
    • HR Talent Acquisition and Retention
    • Cooperative Education
    • Integrated Application of Human Resource Management Concepts, Principles, and Practices 

    Courses are offered in the evenings and weekends at Highline College's Des Moines campus and online.

    You can begin the program in any academic quarter and you make take the courses in any order. You may take one or more courses to refresh or increase your knowledge of specific HR practice areas or you may take the entire nine course series and earn an academic HR certificate.
