SKCHRA 2015 President Elect
The South King County Society for Human Resources Association “SKCHRA” announced last week that Jan Fernandez has been elected to fill the office of President Elect for the ensuing year.
Ms. Fernandez has been a member of the SKCHRA chapter since 2012 and served in a variety of volunteer positions until her election to the Board of Directors in early 2014. During her 2014 term on the Board of Directors, she held the position of Arrangements Chair, coordinating logistics of monthly chapter meetings as well as annual half-day training seminars.
Her new role as President-Elect will encompass assisting the President in overseeing all the activities of the chapter. In the absence of the President, she will perform all the presidential responsibilities. She will participate in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategic planning for the chapter and represent the chapter in the human resources community.
Ms. Fernandez’s skill set brings a unique perspective to the SKCHRA board as she has not only served in the capacity of a Human Resources Director for a 600 employee box manufacture; directing the Safety Program, implementing Retrospective Ratings through the Washington State workman’s compensation program, EEOC claims investigations, but also managed the day to day operations of the 401(k) plan and Self-funded health plan. Ms. Fernandez moved through the HR industry, entering self-funded health plans in 2006 where she worked on multi-million dollar self-funded health plans at regional Third Party Administrators until 2011 when she turned the corner to the consulting side of healthcare financing. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from City University in 1998.
Ms. Fernandez is excited to continue her service to her human resource background and welcomes the opportunity to work with the exciting people who make up the human resources industry.
